I really love how many different backgrounds people in data viz come from. It means if you're interested, you can get into the field and thrive, regardless of what you studied, or what you've done.

I always thought I was in the minority by arriving at data visualization from a background in art/design but it's interesting that your chart shows just the opposite. I don't feel so alone now!
It's weird you mention "10,000 hours" because the same author of Range disproved Gladwell's "10,000 hours" theory. Alex Edmans "May Contain Lies" dives deeper into the limited data used to make up the "10,000 hours" theory.
