The What
The Plot is a biweekly newsletter at the intersection of data, design, and storytelling. Here I explore projects, reflect on ideas, and suggest tips that can help you improve your information design work. With each edition, I aim to inspire you and provide practical tricks you can implement right away.
This newsletter is for you if:
You communicate data in your work (or hobby!),
You understand that data communication and design is a multi-disciplinary field,
You like diving deep into projects, big and small, and love learning new things.
The How
The posts from The Plot will reach your inbox every other Thursday. They’ll be delivered right to your (virtual) doorstep, but you can also access all the posts here as they are published. The linked page includes all the archives too!
You’ll be able to respond to each post via email or leave a comment on Substack, and I hope you will!
The Who
I’m Evelina, an independent information design specialist based in Paris. I spend most of my time helping organisations with a positive social impact communicate their data in engaging ways. Here is an example of one of my all-time favourite projects — physical data visualisation murals in Kenya.
I work a lot with Data4Change as their mission is very much aligned with mine. In addition, I also design and run trainings for other clients with social impact. I love the data visualisation community, and foster it by organising the international Outlier conference and the local Data Visualisation Paris meetup.
Like most people in this field, I didn't start my career doing data design. I went through a journey of learning the intricacies of finance, the thrills of event design and the joys of public speaking before I fell in love with data visualisation. My experience in these different fields allows me to create unique and robust data stories.
